A great all-around thornless blackberry. The Chester blackberry can grow anywhere from the Northern to Southern states. This variety can tolerate hot and dry weather and is known to be winter hardy. The fast-growing canes are sturdy, but still require a little support as they can reach up to 10′ long. Plants are vigorous and show resistance to cane blight. Their large firm but not tart berries ripen in July-August and are perfect for fresh eating, preserves, and baking.
